First, as far as I can feel, his paintings have northern Chinese style of magnifi cent and robust, especially in his portrayal of fl ower-and-bird, trunk, branches, stones, and so on, which are thick and intrepid. Secondly, as a person comes from south himself, he often uses bright colors and tends to make his paintings shine and bright, including his painting on golden foil papers, silver leaves as well as heavily-colored papers. He has distinctively absorbed the painting style of the Lingnan School and his attempt is quite unprecedented by using the Chinese traditional classical water ink in the portrayal of fl ower-and-bird. I think the way he adopts is successful.
