Professor Siu Fai Wing (Xiao Hui Rong, zi Guren), born in 1946, focuses on painting flowers. He is not only an expert at painting plum blossoms but also good at painting landscapes and figures. He is excellent in writing the Bird-insect Seal Script. He creates the Literati Sculpture and is a professional connoisseur who is interested at Chinese art history and theory. Siu has become famous contemporary artist through hard working, acquaintance with masters, appreciation, deep learning, and long term collection.
Since early 1960's, Siu has started to paint and publish his works. In 1970's, he engaged in Arts and Crafts business for a decade and his works were always selected for the National Arts and Crafts Exhibition. He began to establish close relations and paint jointly with famous artists and scholars, such as Zhu Qizhan, Liu Haisu, Wu Zuoren, Lu Yanshao, Lai Shaoqi, Tang Yun, Cheng Shifa, Xie Zhiguang, Li Xiongcai, Zhao Shaoang, Guan Shanyue, Yang Shanshen, Wang Meng, Huang Miaozi, Huang Yongyu, Qi Gong, Sun Xingge, Rao Zongyi, Pan He, Sheng Yang, Cao Chunsheng, and others. He was praised with respect. In 1982, he held a joint exhibition together with two contemporary famous artists: Zhou Changgu and Huang Huanwu, at the City Hall and American Library in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Zhang Daqian inscribed “Painter and Calligrapher” for him. His paintings were selected for the 6th to 12th Exhibitions of National Art Works and he won the Excellence Award. His works were also selected to participate in the Third International Art Biennale in Beijing. From 2000 onward, he has held forty large scale solo exhibitions in over ten cities including Beijing, Hong Kong, Nanjing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Shantou, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhenjiang, Weifang, and so on. He has edited and published more than fifty painting albums. His Chinese paintings, calligraphy, and sculptures are highly praised and have drawn a lot of attention from art circles in China and abroad. He is known as “The Master of Modern Chinese Painting”. In January 2013, an asteroid discovered at the Xu Yi Station of the Purple Mountain Observatory on March 3, 2008, with global number 188973 has been named after him as “Siu Fai Wing Star”. He is the first painter in China to achieve such honor. In October, he participated in the “First International Art Biennale - the Shanghai Cooperation Organization”, and won the gold medal. In 2014, he was selected as the “Top Hundred Global Outstanding Chinese List” and won the “Global Outstanding Chinese Award”. “Siu Fai Wing Plum Blossom Art Museum” and “Siu Fai Wing Museum of Art” have been established in Nanjing and Shantou respectively. He was awarded with the “Foreign Culture Exchange Envoy” by Nanjing city and “Shantou Honorary Citizen” by Shantou municipal government.
His artworks are in the collections of prominent institutions such as the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee, Ministry of Defense of People's Republic of China, the Central United Front Work Department, the Palace Museum in Beijing, China National Museum, China National Art Gallery, Xiling Seal Association, the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Jiangsu Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Committee, China Sculpture Institute, Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Tokyo Japan-China Friendship Center, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei, the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing, Mission of the People's Republic of China to the European Union, embassies of UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Japan, and Korea,as well as the European Parliament. They are also collected by many overseas
celebrities such as RafahLan (the former Prime Minister of France) and Abe Shinzo (the prime minister of Japan). Professor
